The village of Chapman, population 1200, is one mile south off I-70 on Marshall Ave.  The town was founded in 1868 by Irish immigrant farm families and many of the traditions of those days remain today.

 

Known now as the town hit by the tornado in 2008, Chapman has rebuilt and replanted while maintaining the spirit and the heritage of the community.  Famed artist Birger Sandzen, whose roots are planted in nearby Lindsborg has three paintings on permanent loan to USD 435. These paintings can be seen at the Admin Center.
