This is a nice little slice of Americana. After seeing the documentary "Unbeaten", it prompted me to explore more online...

About this Exploration:

On the Bricks mural
This building was originally Goodland's Moose Lodge, but had greatly deteriorated. Brian Freeman renovated the building, which became a coffee house, The Goodland Grind.
He then added this mural, Bygone Days on the Bricks, to its south side in the summer of 2007 with help from a $2,000 grant from Kansas Arts Commission. Laurie Albin from WaKeeney painted it in an Art Deco color scheme at Freeman's request.
In 2008, the building changed hands and became On the Bricks Cafe. The new owners changed the restaurant name on the mural to reflect change of ownership.
On the Bricks mural World's Fair detail
The1933 Chicago World's Fair is included in the mural.  We believe the building was originally constructed that year, but we don't know for certain. If anyone knows, please let us know
These greyhounds honor the rescued racing greyhounds that then-building owners had at time of mural painting.
A Rock Island steam engine is not shown in the mural photo. Goodland was a Rock Island Railroad division point until the railroad folded operations.
Freeman was an artist himself. He painted The Big Rooster in Gulick Park. Albin also helped paint History of the Opera House mural at 10th and Main. She restored the painting on the back wall of the Sherman Theatre.
