About this Exploration: Logan was settled in 1870, under the 1870s Homestead Act and was named after John Alexander Logan, a Civil War officer. Logan is located in southwestern Phillips County on the north fork of the Solomon River. Its early history is a colorful one filled with stories of adventurous settlers who came to hunt buffalo or homestead land. There are many buildings, built in the early 1900s that have been refurbished to house today's businesses. The most historical building is the limestone Logan Episcopal Church located at 210 Washington. It was built in 1890 and continues to serves its congregation today. |
