About this Exploration:

Since 1954, the Robert “Swede” and Shirley Masters’ family have been collecting arrowheads and other Indian artifacts. It all started when a man shared his collection with young Bob’s Boy Scout troop.  Bob was the oldest of their four boys, followed by Glen, Tony and Pat. They were intrigued by the arrowheads and decided to set out hunting for a few of their own, asking local farmers if they could walk their fields.

Fifty years later, the family had amassed a collection of over 2,000 arrowheads, in addition to Indian pottery chards, musket balls, shotgun shells, pecking stones, a bone knife and a large stone axe. Robert and Shirley have both passed away but their extensive collection remains as a tribute to their passion.  The collection is on display at the Schuyler School Museum in Burlingame.

Open Wednesday 1-4 p.m.; Friday 1-4 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; Sunday 1–4 p.m.  Also open by appointment and special request.
