About this Exploration:
Col. Napoleon Brown arrived in Concordia in 1876 with his wife Catherine and young son Earl. It is said he arrived with a carpet bag bulging with cash hoping to cash in on the high interest rates which prevailed on the frontier.
Brown built a bank on the corner of 6th & Washington and was wildly successful.
Col. Brown built Brownstone Hall which was completed in 1884 and had the only inside bathroom in Concordia. In 1906 Col. Brown put up the money to build the magnificent Brown Grand Theatre.
