Curators at the museum will be happy to tell you the significance of the limestone statue of a draft horse which graces the front of the museum. Frank Walker, a local farmer and businessman, donated the building and many items to the Rooks County Historical Society, allowing them to complete what has become one of the nicer museums in northwest Kansas.
The museum is currently expanding a military research project begun by Lorabell Sander to identify and honor World War II military members from Rooks County. The project now includes all Rooks County veterans of peacetime and all wars, whether living or deceased.
