Blue Rapids Explorations | History

Alcove Spring

A very historical site on the Oregon Trail and the National Register of Historic Places is nestled in the hills north of Blue Rapids. The spring was named in 1871 by a member of the ill-fated Donner-Reed Party.

Blue Rapids Historical Society Museum

Rotating themed exhibits every four months and hosts special events. It houses collections of local historical significance from former and current residents.

Chicago White Sox and New York Giants

The 100th Anniversary will be celebrated on September 21, 2013 with lots of fun and a historic real ballgame on the same field! You won't want to miss the excitement and activities! Located along the famous "White Way" Hwy that joins Chicago with Colorado Springs.

Floral Hall

The Marshall County Fair has been held in the Blue Rapids Park since 1916 and Floral Hall is one of the mainstay buildings.

Ice Age Monument

Professor George Callison grew up in Blue Rapids and left to seek advanced education and adventure in palentology. He had a vision, took action and created a monument to the Ice Age that left rocks, the beautiful Flint Hills, and mastodon tusks and teeth in our sand pits.

Pioneer Settlement Trail Mural

This mural is found by the Holm Cabin that borders the Southwest corner of the Round Town Square.

War Memorial

Commemorates Blue Rapids area soldiers that lost their lives serving in WWI, WWII, Korea, or Vietnam
