About this Exploration: This was once the home of the famous hatchet wielding prohibitionist Carrie Nation. In 1900, from this house, she launched her temperance movement by chopping up three bars in nearby Kiowa, Kansas. Her home was listed on the National Register of History Places on May 11, 1976. The entrance to this site is via the Stockade museum immediately east of the Carrie Nation House. The house is open for visits everyday of the week from 10:30am to 5:00pm, except major holidays. |
