Email Address: woodyk@twinvalley.net About this Exploration:  Swedish SupperThe 56th Annual Swedish Supper will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m.. The cost for adults is $13 and $6 for children 6-12.

%20-%20Copy.JPG) History: The Olsburg community was settled primarily by Swedes and Norwegians, though the surrounding communities were composed of other ethnic groups, including those from Scotland, England and Germany. As a reminder of the predominately Swedish heritage, our community has used the symbol of the Dala horse in some of our logos and other advertising. One other way we remember this heritage is with the annual Swedish Supper held each year on the first Saturday in December. The Swedish Supper has been a fundraiser since 1956 for the Olsburg Lutheran Church. The supper, which began at the Mariadahl Lutheran Church (Mariadahl, Kansas) but was moved to Olsburg when the Mariadahl community was dis-banned when Tuttle Creek Reservoir was created.
Included in the Olsburg Centennial book was a photo of the Lutheran Church building, the beginning of the line at the Swedish Supper, and list of the Swedish foods served and the Dala horse logo used for the centennial. Find This Exploration! Get Directions |
