About this Exploration:
Island Park is a favorite destination for visitors and residents alike. It's a historic park that hosted chautauqua's from 1887 to 1913.
Kids (of all ages!) delight in the castle-like community-built playground. All of the money and labor for the original playground was provided by the community. When tragedy struck in 2008 and the playground burned down, the community rallied to make sure the kids would still have their playground. Rebuilt in 2009, the new playground is bigger and better than ever!
Island Park also provides ample opportunities for rest and relaxation. Kick back with a fishing pole and listen to the soothing sounds of the waterfall on the western edge of the park. Or sit for awhile in the Peace Garden, while enjoying the beautiful plantings and flowers. Reserve the Pavillion for a barbeque with friends and family. Hours of fun await you at Island Park!
